Orchiopexy
Orchiopexy is surgeryto move an undescended testicleinto the scrotum. It is most often performed by a pediatricsurgeonon infants and young boys under the age of one. In some cases a pediatricurologistperforms the surgery.
The undescended testicle may be located in the abdomen, the inguinal canal or high in the scrotum. The surgeon utilises an endoscope through the umbilicus to locate the tecticle and through other small opening(s) performs the procedure. The higher the testicle the less succesfull the procedure. However, the procedure has a high success rate overall.
