Diplococcus
A diplococcus is a round bacterium(a coccus) that typically occurs in pairs of two joined cells. Examples are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitis.
In former times, a bacterial genusDiplococcus was recognized, but it is not used anymore.
