Luminescent Bacteria makes chemical energy into light and this is what causes the bacteria to glow. The bacteria thrives in the Light Organ. The bacteria can be found floating in the ocean. However, the glow that the bacteria gives off, attracts the flashlight fish. The Luminescent Bacteria is what causes the flashlight fish to give off the light it does. Once the bacteria is consumed by the flashlight fish, it stays in the fish?s Light Organ and uses the organ as a home. The luminescent bacteria exists and thrives in many deep sea organisms, including the Lantern Fish, the Angler fish certain jellyfish, certain clams and the Gulper Eel.
