Deng Pufang
Deng Pufang (邓朴方 pinyindeng4 pu2 fang1), (born in April 1944), is the first son of Deng Xiaopingand his third wife Zhuo Lin.
He is considered a member of the Crown Prince Party.
During the Cultural Revolution, Deng Xiaoping and his family were targeted by Mao Zedong; Mao's Red Guardsimprisoned Deng Pufang. He was tortured and forced out of the window of a four-story building, becoming a paraplegic.
Deng Pufang is currently the chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, which he helped found in 1988. He was awarded the United Nations Human Rights Prizein December 2003for his work in protecting the rights of disabledpeople in China.
The International Paralympic Committeeaward Deng the Paralympic Order during the body's November2005meeting in Beijing.[1] This is the first year the award was offered to one recipient only; in the past, gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded.
