Spontaneous remission
Spontaneous remission is a catch-all expression by the medical faculty for any healingwith no obvious conventional explanation. Cases of spontaneous remission are a good example of statistical outliers due to the large numbers of individuals alive and the corresponding incidences of disease. The opposite of a "spontaneous remission" would be a young, non-smoking healthy male developing breast cancer (odds for men in the United States developing breast cancer are a tiny 1 in 175,000 [1]).
Traditional medical practice ascribes the effect to rationally explainable influences that simply lack observation. Advocates of faith healingand alternative medicinecontend that the expression is a convenient means for dismissing alternative sources of efficacy.de:Spontanheilung
