Diffuse optical imaging
Diffuse optical imaging is a medical imagingmodality which uses near infraredlight to generate images of the body. The technique measures the absorptionof haemoglobin, and relies on the absorption spectrumof haemoglobin varing with its oxygenation status.
Typical applications include rapid 2D optical topographic imaging of the evoked responsefollowing brainactivity and tomographic reconstructionof an entire 3D volume of tissue to diagnose breast canceror neonatalbrainhaemorrhage.
