Eloquent cortex
Eloquent cortex is a name used by neurologistsfor areas of cortexthat?if removed?will result in loss of sensoryprocessing, minor paralysis, paralysis, or linguistic ability. The most common areas of eloquent cortex are in the left temporaland frontal lobesfor speechand language, bilateral occipital lobesfor vision, bilateral parietal lobesfor sensation, and bilateral motor cortexfor movement.
Neuroimagingtechniques such as magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography, or magnetoencephalographyare especially useful non-invasive tools to locate eloquent cortex.
