GEFS
GEFS, short for Generalised Epilepsy with Febrile Seizures is characterised by febrile and afebrile generalised seizuresin childhood and respond well to standard antiepileptic treatments. There is an increased risk of adultepilepsy. The condition is thought to be caused by an autosomal dominantmodification of the beta subunits of voltage-gated Na+channels making them close more slowly.[1]
