Mallet finger
In medicine, mallet finger, also baseball finger and (more generally) extensor tendon injury, is an injury of the extensor digitorum longus tendonat the distal interphalangeal joint.[{{fullurl:Template:FULLPAGENAME}}#endnote_gpnotebook1] It results from hyperextension of the extensor digitorum longus tendon, as can happen when someone hits their own finger (when using a mallet) or when, in baseball, someone goes to catch a flyballand the ball strikes the palmar aspect of one of their fingers.
