Competitive antagonist
A competitive antagonist is a receptor antagonistthat binds to a receptorbut fails to activate it. If an agonistcompetes with a competitive antagonist for the same binding siteon the same receptor, the agonist moleculescan be displaced from the binding site, resulting in a lower frequency of receptor activation.
