Mehmet Oz

Mehmet Oz or Mehmet Öz is a noted Turkish-Americansurgeon and cardiologist.

Dr. Oz was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and received his undergraduate degree from Harvard Universityin 1982and obtained a joint MD and MBA degree in 1986from the University of PennsylvaniaSchool of Medicine and Wharton Business School. Dr. Oz is the Irving Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Columbia University. He directs the Heart Assist Device Program and is a founder of the Complementary Medicine Program at New York Presbyterian Medical Center. His research interests include heart replacement surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, and healthcare policy. He has authored more than 350 original publications, book chapters, abstracts, and books and has received several patents.

Dr. Oz has appeared numerous times on the NBC Evening News, ABC Evening News, and CBS Evening News, and on 48 Hours, Turning Point, Dateline, Good Morning America, the Today Show, CNN, McNeil-Lehrer NewsHour, Discovery, PBSdocumentaries, Oprah, and more than two dozen other shows. He is the author of the award-winning book, Healing from the Heart, as well as numerous pieces in Newsweek, O magazine, and The New England Journal of Medicine. He has a bi-monthly column in Esquiremagazine. His newest book, You ? The Owner?s Manual: An Insider?s Guide to the Body That Will Make You Healthier and Younger was released in May 2005and is currently listed on The New York Times Bestsellerlist.
