Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland
The Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) is the national institute in the Republic of Irelandresponsible for ionising radiationand radioactive contaminationmatters since its establishment in April 1992by the Radiological Protection Act, 1991. The institute is also the successor to the Nuclear Energy Boardand as the Irish Governmentno is longer pursuing a nuclear poweroption the Nuclear Energy Board was formally wound up by the same 1991 Act of the Oireachtas. The institute is currently responsible to the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
