American Sociological Association
The American Sociological Association (ASA), founded in 1905as the the American Sociological Society (ASS), is a non-profit organizationdedicated to advancing the discipline and profession of sociologyby serving sociologists in their work and promoting their contributions to serve society.
The ASA holds annual meetings and publishes several academic journals, including American Sociological Review and Sociological Theory, as well as Contexts, a new magazine designed to share sociology with other fields and the public. With a membership of nearly 14,000 professors, students, researchers and practitioners, the ASA is the largest professional association of sociologists in the United States.
