Strain (injury)

A strain is an injurywhich occurs to a musclein which the muscle fiberstear as a result of overstretching. Strains are also known as pulled muscles. The equivalent injury to a ligamentis a sprain.
Typical symptomsof a strain include localized pain, stiffness, swelling, inflammation, and bruisingaround the strained muscle.
Whiplashis a specific type of strain to the neckand upper back.
